The first stage of the process involves the assessment of your qualifications based on your occupation. Once you have passed this stage, you can then move to the next visa process.

The majority of migrants to Australia go through the Australian General Skilled Migration Programme (GSM).

STEP 1: GATHERING OF DOCUMENTS

Some of the documents needed are:

-Employers Certificates

– Educational Certificates

– Your Salary or Pay Slips

– Your Tax Records if needed

– Your Bank Statement

– Valid Passports and other identifications

STEP 2: LODGE YOUR SKILLS ASSESSMENT APPLICATION

You will be needed to lodge your skills to the assessment body for them to assess you on your skills and qualifications. The processing time of the assessment depends on the assessing staff and how complicated or complex your visa application is.

STEP 3: LODGE YOUR VISA APPLICATION

Once you have received your assessment for your skills, you are then ready to submit your visa application to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection of Australia. If you are applying through family sponsorship, the procedure will be different.

STEP 4: PROCESSING PERIOD

This actually varies. Here, you will have to wait but you will for sure be receiving updates from the DIBP or the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection or your case manager.

STEP 5: OBTAIN A POLICE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATES

This step is the last step in your Australian Visa application and this is a positive sign that you will be granted an Australian Visa. Once the DIBP have successfully processed your application, you will then be asked to provide the medical and police clearance of you and your family.

STEP 6: VISA ISSUANCE

Once you have passed the step 5. You will be receiving a letter of grant from the DIBP informing you that you need to send your passports to have the visa stamped or attached on them.
