Australian Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) Visa
This visa is a permanent residency and work visa for all migrants who have the required qualifications and skills to fill up skill shortages in the Australian work force.
The applicants are expected to have a minimum of 60 points in the points assessment test. Also, applicants are expected to be less than 45 years old and must be able to prove that they have the right skills and/or qualifications in the occupation they have selected, which must be on the Skilled Occupation List. Skilled Independent PR Visa Eligibility Assessment

Australian Skilled Nominated Permanent Visa (Subclass 190)
This visa subclass is also a permanent work visa for those who have the right qualifications and skills as required by the Australian government. Such also should have their nominated occupation in the Skilled Occupation list. However, these must have FAILED to meet the pass mark that is required to qualify for the Skilled Independent Visa. The Skilled Nominated visa applicants are expected to have at least 60 points in their points assessment test and must have secured a sponsorship from either an eligible relative who is a resident of Australia or from a participating Territory or State of Australia.
Skilled Nominated PR Eligibility Assessment
Applicants must pass the assessment test. Points are given in areas of age, English Language fluency, work experience, spouse skills and other areas. The current pass mark for the assessment is 60 points.
Australian Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 489)
This visa category is a work visa issued on provisional levels to individuals who have the skills and qualifications but have FAILED to satisfy the pass mark requirements to obtain a Skilled Independent Visa.
Applicants under this visa subclass must have a minimum of 60 points and must secure sponsorship from either an eligible relative who is an Australian resident or from a Specific Regional Area of Australia or from any participating Territory or State of Australia.
Applicants are expected to be under the age of 50 and must be able to prove that they have the required skills and qualifications as required in their nominated occupation which must also be found in the Skilled Occupation List. Selected applicants under the Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 489) must be willing to reside and work for at least two years in the Specific Regional Area of Australia. Visa issued in this category is valid for up to 4 years and gives a pathway to permanent residence.
